Across the country, only about 47 percent of students feel truly engaged while the rest drift through lessons that feel disconnected from their lives, their dreams, and their communities. For too many young people, school does not inspire confidence or spark curiosity. It leaves potential untapped and opportunity out of reach.

Bridge the District exists to change that. Founded by scholars in Washington, D.C., we are a student-led organization working for students, by students, and with students because those closest to the problem are best equipped to design its solutions.

From the classroom to the community, Bridge the District gives students experiences that excite, challenge, and empower. Middle and high school students tackle hands-on projects, explore new ideas during lunch programs, and step onto college campuses to attend real classes and connect with professors and undergraduates, turning curiosity into confidence. College students and young adults participate in programs that explore career pathways, connect with professionals, and build skills to thrive in school, internships, and beyond. Students lead service projects, neighborhood initiatives, and cultural events that strengthen community, identity, and purpose across Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.
