Carole Smarth's Story

I am fundraising in solidarity for my Haitian brothers and sisters through Community Coalition for Haiti. In the heart of Jacmel CCH has made a profound impact of children and families. I was able to witness and be part of one of their key initiatives, their school based programs They sponsor hundreds of children enabling them to attend school and often providing them with the only meal they have all day. Without adequate nutrition children struggle to learn, focus and thrive. Understanding this CCH have provided access to nutritious meals. They have also been involved in vaccinating children to decrease preventable infectious diseases. Every child deserves a chance to be their best selves and every parent deserves to see this for their children. CCH helps contribute to make this a reality. By helping to meet basic needs of food, education healthcare and physical therapy CCH is saving lives literally and figuratively. They are combatting despair with hope and light!

On March 29, 2025, we invite you to Walk with Us 4 miles around Lake Accotink in support of Haitian families. Participants can join us in person at Lake Accotink Park in Springfield, Virginia, or hike/walk/move on your own as a virtual participant. We’re all coming together to raise awareness & funds for CCH’s critical education, healthcare, and community development work in Jacmel, Haiti.
