Please join us in supporting this verified fundraiser for Mohammed Hammad, a young 17-year-old disabled Palestinian who takes care of his mom and 5 siblings essentially by himself, even while he is going through excruciating pain with little access to medications.

Mohammed has a fixator on one leg which has an infection that is spreading; he will need it amputated, which is life threatening in current conditions, if he isn’t evacuated to Cairo immediately. Since we were able to get his initial goal rapidly, he asked us to raise it so he doesn't leave his siblings behind. The original goal was $10,000 for him and his mom to evacuate because minors cannot cross the border without a parent or legal guardian, but this would have meant leaving his 5 siblings to fend for themselves in the displacement camps in Rafah. It would be truly devastating for him to leave his siblings behind with absolutely no support.

With the rising costs of crossing the border, the pending closure of the border, and the threat of an imminent invasion of Rafah, Mohammed needs to raise $50,000 ASAP in order to pay for new passports and evacuate, with a stretch goal of $150,000.

New passports and evacuation fees for Mohammed, his mother, and his 5 siblings: $49,000 ($7,000 x 7)

Treatment for his mother's blood pressure: $1,000
Accommodation in Egypt: $30,000
Food and drink in Egypt: $10,000

Here is an update by Mohammed on April 17, 2024:

"I want to share with you what's in my heart, my dears 🙏🏻🙏🏻. I am now very joyful about the accomplishment we've achieved together as a wonderful team ❤️.

Now, I've set a goal of $50,000, but this truly isn't enough after discussions with my family, not out of greed or ambition, but genuinely not enough. Why? I'll explain:Firstly, each of us needs $7,000 for coordination and obtaining new passports, totaling approximately $49,000.

Additionally, there are other crucial expenses such as:The cost of treating my leg, which is essential and might cost around $5,000.My mother's treatment for her increasing blood pressure, estimated at $1,000.

The third point, which is crucial, is finding an apartment to accommodate me and my family in Egypt, otherwise, we'll be forced to sleep on the streets. Hence, we need an apartment to shelter us for the rest of our lives, with the value of the smallest apartment being $30,000, plus $10,000 for food and drink to sustain our lives.

The fourth point is truly my dream: to go back to school and study again, both me and my older sister, who is in her second year of pharmacy school. I really want to become a doctor, and I have the intelligence for it. The cost of our education, both of us, might amount to $40,000.

I really want you to understand these wishes and dreams, which with our strength and teamwork as a beloved family, we can achieve. Yes, we can, for we are created for change, aren't we?! So, I suggest raising the goal because of these dreams and wishes of the 7 members of our family to $150,000, which barely covers the important needs that should be available to everyone...I hope you truly understand me 🥺🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻"

Mohammed reached out to us in a desperate plea for help, and FU4P is SO GLAD we didn't dismiss him based on his low follower count or age of his social media account. A few messages were exchanged, and we couldn't be more sure...even before he provided evidence.

Still, we had extensive conversations with him and his story is heartbreaking. Currently, with a broken leg and with a giant Ilizarov apparatus (a metal fixator that has pins that start at the apparatus and then are drilled into his knee to hold his limb together), he has no access to any safe follow-up care. His family is all malnutritioned, and he hardly sleeps due to the pain of the pins. He is currently at risk of dying from sepsis, along with his inability to walk without extreme pain, being displaced without access to survival and basic needs, nor any food or water like so many, having lost countless friends and family members, including his Father, and being so young....we feel it is our duty at FU4P to help him & to share his story.
