A Matter of Hope was created in honor of Matt Sgambato and in support of families facing cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that changed our lives forever.

Matt was more than a husband, father, son, brother, and friend; he was the kind of person who brought people together. He loved deeply, lived fully, and left an impact on everyone who knew him.

In 2019, just weeks after welcoming his son into the world, Matt was diagnosed with Stage IV cholangiocarcinoma. What followed was a journey filled with unimaginable challenges, but also incredible love, resilience, community, and hope. Throughout his fight, we experienced firsthand how urgently more research, treatments, and clinical trials are needed for this disease.

After Matt’s passing, family and friends came together with a shared purpose: to honor his legacy by creating something bigger than us.

That purpose became A Matter of Hope.

What began as a way to remember Matt has grown into an annual event and fundraising effort dedicated to supporting research through our partnership with the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation. Through live music, community, generosity, and shared purpose, we raise funds to help advance research and bring hope to future patients and families.

Today, A Matter of Hope is more than a fundraiser. It is a reminder that even in grief, hope can create impact. It is proof that the community can turn heartbreak into action.

And we promise that Matt’s story, and the hope he inspired, will continue to make a difference.
