Maurice "Monk" J. Kammerer, 89, of Rapid City, South Dakota, sadly passed away on June 13, 2026.

Monk was a multi-year Meals on Wheels recipient and will be missed by family, friends, staff, and all who had the pleasure to cross his path.

"Maurice "Monk" Kammerer participated with Meals on Wheels program for a couple years. He enjoyed the visits when the meals were delivered. He had a way of making everyone around him feel great. If you were having a bad day, short visit with Monk would change all that. It was very reassuring on the days meals were delivered he was also being checked on. Thank you Meals on Wheels for all you do!!!" - April Kammerer

"Monk was a character and a half. Every time he called to cancel his meal for the day it would turn into a 15 minute conversation. He would share stories of his family and growing up on the 'ol homestead'. He would even drop in the office from time to time to see how we ladies were doing.
