About Music of Remembrance

Music of Remembrance (MOR), now in its 24^th season, is dedicated to remembering the Holocaust and honoring its lessons. In addition to performing music by composers who dared to speak out and who continued to create even in the darkest of times, we have commissioned and premiered nearly 40 new Holocaust-inspired works by some of today’s leading composers. Looking beyond the Holocaust itself, our programs tell stories about the experience of people in other times and places who have faced exclusion or persecution because of their faith, ethnicity or sexuality.

We are a small non-profit organization that depends on the support of our loyal friends and generous donors. Normally we host an annual gala fundraising dinner, but for the second year the pandemic forces us to hold this event online. We hope that you’ll join us for this virtual celebration. You’ll experience stirring musical highlights and meet some of our fabulous artists. You’ll have a preview of our new season of live and online concerts. You’ll learn how our programs this season do more than look back at history but address urgent questions for today with new works about the voyages of child refugees and the emotional trauma of border separations. You’ll have a chance to help support an organization that makes a difference with programs unlike anyone else’s in the world.
