Dear Brethren,

Greetings from the Manna Project. We are a missions work overseen by the elders of the Forest Hill church of Christ inMemphis, TN, and we are writing to faithful congregations across the country about an opportunity we believe will strengthen the Lord's work around the world for generations to come.

For those who do not know us, the Manna Project exists to train men to preach the gospel and to feed their families whilethey do it. Our missionaries have labored in more than forty countries, with ongoing works in Tanzania, Kenya, Nepal, andCentral America. In many of these places, the greatest obstacle to the spread of the gospel is not a lack of willing men. It isthat a local preacher with no outside support must often choose between preaching and providing for his family. Paulunderstood this. He made tents so the work could continue (Acts 18:3), and he taught that a man should "work with his ownhands" (1 Thessalonians 4:11). We train preachers in both the Word and in practical, sustainable agriculture, so that local men can stay in the field, support their households, and keep preaching long after the American missionary has gone home.

The Lord has now set before us an open door that changes how this training can be done. For years we have gone to them,one country at a time, teaching with whatever we could carry and whatever the land could offer. Now we have theopportunity to bring them to us. We are working to establish a permanent missions training center in the Cayo District ofBelize, on a 31-acre property near Spanish Lookout with a year-round spring, tilapia ponds, an established orchard, a vanillacrop, and working farm infrastructure already in place. Everything we teach will already be built, growing, and producing.Men and women who want to become self-supporting will come from around the world to a facility where they can see itworking, put their own hands to it, and stay for as long as it takes to learn it well. Then they carry it home, where it multiplies into churches planted, families fed, and preachers who remain in the field.

Brethren, we must act quickly. A property like this, already developed and producing, does not stay on the market long, andonce it is sold this opportunity is gone. We are working to raise the funds now so that we can purchase this land before thathappens. The Forest Hill elders have examined this opportunity carefully and have given their full support. Our goal is for at least twenty congregations to each send a one-time gift of $5,000, and larger amounts are greatly appreciated. Anything given beyond the purchase price will be used to build the classrooms, housing, and other buildings the training center will need on this farm.

We understand that not all are able to give, and we simply ask that if not, you would please pray for this work daily.
