With some astounding new projects in the works, now is a perfect time to support Of Substance's upcoming efforts to scale the impact we've already made both today and in the new year!

2023 Mission & Focus:
To normalize vulnerability and transform the way thousands of people engage in the deeper conversations that improve and save our relationships, our lives, and the lives of those we care about most... and, of course, doing it all through movies!

Diversifying Representation:
This coming year, our films will expand to represent more communities such as First Responders, Youth and Adolescents, LGBTQIA and more while touching on more struggles including suicide, grief, body shame, overdose, and more.

New Films In The Works:
In 2023, we're excited to release 8 New Films, including Booze & Brushes, Expecting, Hide Your Crazy, and Like, all of which are nearly ready for you, along with 4 more films still being conceptualized!

A LIVE Series Where YOU Get to be Part of the Show!
We're also beyond thrilled to announce Movies & Conversations: A Series Of Substance.
This is a virtual series, that you can attend LIVE or watch later.
The show will consist of a short film screening, followed by a vulnerable and engaging conversation with notable friends & partners - mental health professionals, artists, and others - and a chance for YOU to engage in the discussion live through chat!
We're working to make this available as a show you can watch and even a podcast you can listen to so you can enjoy however you like!

But these are still difficult times and whether we struggle with substances or not, so many of us feel disconnected and isolated.

Nevertheless, we're in this together. Always.

That's why Of Substance is constantly working to make us all feel more connected, less alone, and more hopeful one film at a time!

Of Substance is an innovative nonprofit that creates premium, entertaining short films to offer healing, support, and understanding to all those touched by substance misuse. We’re turning immersive cinema into an approachable tool for personal transformation and behavioral change.

Of Substance is built on the notion that addiction is a disease of loneliness and isolation and the belief that if you can improve someone’s sense of belonging you can improve their mindset.

Our films invite all audiences to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes momentarily allowing them to gain new perspectives and develop empathy toward themselves and others. They’re triggers of vulnerability, which leads to connection and fosters behavioral transformation.

Among audiences struggling with substance abuse...
85% believe these films could encourage people with addiction to ask for help.
