It has been more than a year since the May 16, 2025 tornado tore through North St. Louis. The headlines have faded. The need has not. Families are still rebuilding, still waiting, and still doing it largely without the help they were promised.

Grassroots Redeeming Love showed up the day after the tornado and never left. Ginelle Bess started in Fountain Park, and the work has since expanded across North City. Her team clears debris, repairs homes, and stands alongside residents the city overlooked long before the tornado.

For years, Justin Barr has been photographing St. Louis from above and sharing it on Instagram. STL From Above: The Exhibit is his first solo show, and the first chance to see his work in person. The show is a celebration of St. Louis. It also shows the reality of the devastation to North City after the tornado. His photographs follow the recovery too. He has been out with GRL on volunteer days, documenting the debris piles, the cleared lots, and the crews at work on a Saturday morning. This night is the closing of the exhibition, so it is your last chance to see the work.

Recovery is long, and our community needs room to gather and find joy along the way. Nights like this let us reset, enjoy one another, and reignite our commitment to North City. The road ahead is long, but we are in it for the long haul.
