The Mountain View Mausoleum is one of Altadena’s most historic and beautiful landmarks, renowned for its stunning stained glass and timeless architecture. Over nearly a century, these treasured windows have faced natural wear and tear — and more recently, the Eaton Fire caused additional damage, putting the integrity of the glass and frames at serious risk.

Judson Studios, the artisans entrusted with their care, recently assessed the mausoleum’s stained glass and found that many panels are at critical risk:

Some glass pieces are loose or broken and could fall if not stabilized.
Support bars that hold the windows in place have shifted, weakening the panels and putting stress on the glass and lead.
The glazing putty has dried and separated from the stone frames, leaving the windows unstable.
Cracked lead and deflected panels create a feedback loop of stress, putting the entire window at risk.
Laylights in particular are heavily affected by gravity and show signs of bowing and separation, making them especially vulnerable to failure.

Without timely restoration, these historic windows could suffer further irreversible damage, and irreplaceable artistry could be lost.

This fundraising effort will fully restore and stabilize all stained glass in the mausoleum, preserving the beauty, history, and integrity of this landmark for generations to come.
