With cinema as a focal point, Ragtag Film Society exists to captivate and engage communities in immersive arts experiences that explore assumptions and elicit shared joy, wonder, and introspection.

Over the course of a typical 12 months, Ragtag Cinema offers mid-Missouri approximately 2,200 screenings of 200 different independent films. The diverse lineup of movies includes the latest releases from independent distributors that are not easily accessible at the megaplex plus a rich selection of archival cinema.

The following programs represent our cinema’s emphasis in education, partnerships, and audience development efforts, as well as amplify our values of integrity, sustainability, playfulness, and inclusivity:

Extra Credit, Science on Screen, Show Me Series, Black Independents, Passport Series, and Screentime.
