1. This is What Hope Looks Like in a Prison ~ our Impact Zine

16 pages of gratitude from us to you, this zine is for you if you are looking to assess the impact of your attention and donation on our justice impacted community. You'll see first hand how we impact the people in prison. Our work is effective. We know it, our interns, neighbors, students, and incarcerated community know it. We want you to know it, too.

2. Our Mission & History Zine

The HoSQ Intro Zine is the place to start if you're wondering who we are. Inside you will find out about our work, as well as featured stories, creative writing, and even a super delicious recipe from one of our writers inside! Also included is all the info you will need to dive into our website, social media and podcast.

3. The Prison Podcast Zine

The Prison Podcast zine acts as a guide to for podcast listeners, featuring both episode summaries and exclusive HoSQ team reflections on the victim-offender dialogue presented in each episode. Like our podcast, this zine is designed to offer context to foster a more complex understanding of human conflict, rehabilitation, and reconciliation.

4. True Crimes Zine

Perfect for the true crime junkies in your life! We interview incarcerated individuals about the crimes they have committed, how they did it, why they did it, the time they have served or are currently serving, and their growth journey through this time. In this zine, incarcerated individuals reflect on their circumstances and how they influenced their actions. We also interview them on their rehabilitative journey. What helped them? What hurt them? By giving them the opportunity to contextualize their crime, we hope to incorporate more humanity into true crime narratives and paint a fuller picture of the crimes themselves.

5. Poetry Anthology Zine

Poetry at its core is the artistic, aesthetic, and rhythmic expression of ones own humanity. People from all over the world who are enduring incarceration write to us seeking to share a piece of their story. In this 14-page anthology, we share these pieces with the purpose of amplifying the voices of incarcerated individuals, and changing narratives surrounding incarceration through the power of language.

6. Prison Recipes Zine

Every recipe shared here was created in a 9' X 4' cell. Cooking in prison comes with many challenges demanding creativity – ingredients are limited, and the only cooking appliances are hot pots. Garbage bags are used as mixing bowls and twin beds as a kitchen counter. The lack of what we all might consider “traditional kitchen necessities” combined with the human urge to create food for celebrations and other important events requires incarcerated people to be innovative. In this zine, recipes are edited slightly to make it possible for you to try them in your own home.
