Approximately 3,000-4,000 children drop out of high school every year in Sacramento County. High school dropouts produce 80 percent of crimes, homicides, incarceration, homelessness, and victims of trafficking in Sacramento, costing thousands of lives and billions of dollars. Sacramento is therefore, “hostage” to the dropout crisis. Furthermore, 80 percent of Dropouts could have been identified and prevented in the 9th grade, “the make or break it year” based on failing grades and poor attendance.

Our Solution

The mission of the Miracle University Dropout Prevention movement is to ensure every potential high school dropout in Sacramento graduates from high school, college or career-ready. The vision of Miracle University, is to prevent 80% of our city’s crimes, homicides, incarceration, homelessness, and sex trafficking, by ending the dropout crisis. Miracle University, founded by California State Teacher of the Year, Dr. Kadhir Raja, is based on a Miracle formula for success that has for 20 years transformed thousands of potential dropouts at inner city high schools and juvenile halls from East Oakland, CA to North Sacramento, CA.

Program Highlights

Miracle University intends to end the city’s dropout crisis by offering 2 Miracle pathways for every student who has been written off as a Dropout

Pathway 1: Miracle University offers a Dropout Prevention Program that partners with High Schools. The Miracle Dropout Prevention Program transforms every potential Dropout while keeping the student enrolled in their current high school. 100% of our students in the Miracle Dropout Prevention Program, experience a turnaround and graduate college or career ready.

Pathway 2: Miracle University also offers a state-registered Private High School. The Miracle Private School offers students a non-traditional learning environment and personalized schedule. 100% of our students in the Miracle Private School experience a turnaround and graduate college or career ready.

At Miracle University, every child is assigned a Miracle mentor specialized in impactful relationship building, transforming the inner spirit, making regular home visits, engaging parents, and monitoring students’ attendance, grades, behavior, and wellness. Miracle mentors are trained in culturally responsive and holistic mentoring methods based on the Handz on Mentors model. Every child is also assigned a Miracle tutor for every subject that he or she is failing. Miracle tutors are trained in the most effective, culturally responsive teaching methods based on the model detailed in CREATE Success: Unlocking the Potential of Urban Youth. Furthermore, every Miracle child is offered personalized paid internships, health and wellness plan, housing assistance, transportation assistance, and options to explore theater and Performing arts.

Miracle Results

Since 2023, 300/300 or 100% of students written off by different high schools throughout Sacramento, as “Dropouts,” have graduated through Miracle University. Every student, written off as a potential Dropout, has graduated and is currently enrolled in college or a career pathway. Miracle University is the only Dropout Prevention Program in the nation with a 100% success rate in transforming hundreds of potential dropouts into graduates.

Call to Action

Miracle University has a 5-year goal to ensure that 100% of potential high school Dropouts in Sacramento are on track to graduating prepared to succeed in college or career. Currently, 500 kids in Sacramento are on the waiting list to be in the Miracle University Dropout Prevention Program or Miracle Private High School. Every student has been written off by their high school as a potential Dropout. If we can enroll all 500 students in Miracle University by September, we are confident that 100% of these 500 students will experience a turnaround and graduate college or career ready.

The Miracle program requires $5,000 per student, per year in order to ensure that every Miracle student graduates prepared to succeed in college or career. The $5,000 per student provides transformative holistic mentoring, effective tutoring, personalized paid internships, monthly scholarships, transportation assistance, housing assistance, and opportunities in theater/performing arts.

Our greatest need is sponsors for those 500 students on the Miracle waiting list to be enrolled in Miracle University. In order to find sponsors for these 500 students who are the waiting list for the Miracle, Miracle University has launched the “Sponsor a Miracle Child Campaign.” We therefore invite you to end the dropout crisis by contributing to the “Sponsor a Miracle Child Campaign”. Your donation can sponsor students to be in Miracle University so they receive the support needed to graduate from high school and experience a Miracle in their life journey
