Expanding Access to Capital: The Role of CDFIs in Building an Equitable Economy

For too long, Black, Latino, and other historically underserved entrepreneurs in Massachusetts have faced systemic barriers to accessing the capital they need to start and grow their businesses. Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) and alternative lenders have stepped up to bridge this gap—providing flexible, mission-driven financing that helps small businesses thrive where traditional lending falls short.

At our Legislative Breakfast on April 22 at the Massachusetts State House, the Coalition for an Equitable Economywill spotlight the transformative impact of CDFIs and alternative lending solutions. This event will feature a panel discussion with both CDFI leaders and the small business owners they have supported, sharing firsthand experiences of how equitable access to capital fuels economic opportunity and strengthens our communities.
