A Legacy Reimagined

Once reserved for the daughters of European nobility, the cotillion began as a dance of refinement, grace, and lineage. For centuries, a young woman’s identity was tethered to her father’s status, her worth defined by his title.
Yet, for generations of Black Americans, this same ritual became something profoundly different: a declaration of freedom, identity, and belonging.

The Love, Respect & Value Her Cotillion continues this tradition as it's not a performance of privilege, but as a celebration of culture, excellence, and purpose.

Women Just Like Me is committed to supporting individuals from Black, Brown, and under-resourced communities by providing culturally responsive programming that promotes emotional wellness, self-sufficiency, and family resilience. Through mentorship, advocacy, and education, Women Just Like Me creates safe spaces where girls, youth, and young women can heal, grow, and thrive.
