Sometimes rescue doesn't happen the way we hope it will.

We received a call asking if we could take in a young pig. We were honest that we simply didn't have the space available, but we were happy to help connect them with other resources that might be able to.

About 15 minutes later, she was dumped in one of our pastures anyway.

While we're incredibly grateful she is now safe, this kind of abandonment creates serious challenges. Our newest little girl is covered in mites and had to be immediately removed from the pasture and placed into quarantine. She's already begun treatment, but because she was left with one of our herds, we now have to closely monitor every pig she may have come into contact with. That means extra work, extra supplies, extra veterinary care, and a whole lot of caution to protect more than 40 pigs who call that pasture home.

Dumping animals isn't rescue. It puts every animal already receiving care at risk.
