Devastating flash floods are impacting communities across Nepal, including areas where Inner Ocean Empowerment Project has worked alongside local families, health workers, drivers, and community leaders for nearly 15 years.

For us, this is deeply personal.

People within our extended communities are missing. Families are waiting for news of loved ones. Drivers, Sherpa community members, and others who have supported and cared for our teams over the years are among those currently unaccounted for.

These are our people.

Inner Ocean is raising emergency funds to support communities affected by the flooding, with an initial focus on the regions where we have longstanding relationships and trusted local networks.

Funds raised will allow us to respond as needs become clearer and may support immediate necessities such as food, clean water, medical supplies, shelter, transportation, and direct assistance to affected families, followed by longer-term recovery and rebuilding.

Our work in Nepal has always been community-led. Rather than deciding from afar what people need, we will continue listening to our Nepali partners, Community Health Workers, and local leaders and directing resources where they can be most useful.

Inner Ocean volunteer teams from around the world are already scheduled to be on the ground in Nepal from early October through November, allowing us to continue supporting these communities as the immediate emergency moves into the much longer work of recovery.

Disasters like this do not end when the headlines disappear.
