Following the performance, we will continue our evening with refreshments and the opportunity to participate in our silent auction. All proceeds of the evening will go towards supporting the House of Solidarity. Over the past year, the House of Solidarity has become a beacon of hope, launching new services and events that bring comfort and dignity to so many in need. None of this would be possible without the kindness and generosity of friends like you.

After 30 years in the United States we are so excited to have a place that is our own. We want the House of Solidarity to be a place where we offer basic services to our homeless friends and those in the neighborhood.

The city has been suffering a lot in the last couple of years and so even the name that we gave this place, the House of Solidarity is meant to be a message to the city that we can be together and that together is better. We do not want to give up on finding solutions to the many problems around us. The House of Solidarity has been our dream for a long time now and as it becomes a reality we want it to be a place where others can dream, where people can see that it is possible to be together, a place to come up with solutions together, and where we can grow together. We want it to be an example that something different is possible.

This year we started our first service out of the House of Solidarity--English Lessons. We are so happy to open our doors to recent migrants and non-english speakers to give them the opportunity to learn English; a concrete sign of Welcome and Hope. As the lessons continue, we plan to expand to another group of students and welcome even more into our House.

We look forward to opening new services this year and continuing to spread solidarity in our city, your generosity makes it possible. Thank you!

About Sant'Egidio

Sant'Egidio was founded in Rome in 1968 and is now present in all continents and more than 65 countries. Its pillars around the world are Prayer, Poor, and Peace.

Prayer: Sant'Egidio is a lay catholic movement, which means it is made up of ordinary catholics, not necessarily priest or individuals vowed in religious life. Its members do not take vows, but are all guided and accompanied by a deep Catholic faith. Sant'Egidio is open to echumenical and inter-religious churches and welcomes all to participate in our prayer and services, no matter what their religious beliefs are.

The Poor are brothers and sisters, friends of Sant’Egidio. Friendship with whoever is in a moment of need – elderly, homeless, migrants, disabled people, prisoners, street children – is the distinctive trait of the lives of whom is part of Sant’Egidio.

Peace has always been a central work of Sant’Egidio: to protect it wherever it is threatened and to help re-build it wherever needed,. The work to foster peace is part of a bigger service of reconciliation. It is also part of the fraternity lived through ecumenical commitment and inter-religious dialogue, in the “Spirit of Assisi”.

In the United States Sant'Egidio is present in New York, Boston, Washington DC, South Bend, Chicago, and Miami and serves at risk children, individuals living on the street, elderly, and prisoners.
