About The People’s Conservatory:

TPC trains young artist explorers, with a dedicated focus on brown and black youth from marginalized and economically blighted communities, to envision and create a humane and just world through their art. Our faculty of working artistic professionals help young people find their creative voices, re-imagine their communities’ most pressing social problems and transform from cultural consumers to cultural producers. As the next generation of culture keepers, students in our conservatory develop a lifelong commitment to learning as they are given the voice and agency to become the new leaders of tomorrow.

We are so excited to share with you the vision for our upcoming "Legacy Fest" - a youth-centered arts education event that will be held in Oakland, CA on Sunday, May 26th, 2024. Legacy Fest is designed to provide a unique and enriching celebratory culminating arts experience for the young members of our TPC community, representing over a dozen schools under one roof! It’s our Kidchella!

The Legacy Fest will have an array of artistic showcases and activities, such as an art exhibition, film festival, fashion show, breakdance battle, music and dance performances, mural-making, bouncy houses, carnival games, interactive creative rooms and more for children ages four and up! Through these engaging and immersive experiences, we aim to ignite a passion for the arts, inspire creativity and foster a sense of community among our youth.

In order to make this event accessible to our Oakland youth, regardless of their financial circumstances, we are seeking your support to subsidize the costs. By partnering with us as donors, not only will you enable us to host this event, you will also help to create a positive impact on their lives and provide an incredible experience for FREE, ensuring that they have the opportunity to participate in a day of fun, learning and artistic exploration and celebration.
