1 in 4 men have been sexually harmed as a child or as an adult.

That's more than 43 million in the United States alone.

Severe anxiety, depression, anger, self-harm, panic attacks, intimate partner violence, and suicidal thoughts are common. And yet because of social stigmas about masculinity, most of these men are suffering in silence. Men wait an average of 20 years to tell anyone about their abuse.

That’s why MenHealing was founded. We believe that every survivor, regardless of gender or identity, deserves access to the community and resources they need to heal.

MenHealing is one of the only nonprofit organizations in the country dedicated to helping heal male survivors of sexual harm.

Our weekend retreats and peer-led support groups equip survivors with the nervous system regulation tools, the community, and the self-compassion required to break the cycle of trauma.

And a whopping 85% of our funding comes from private foundations and grassroots donors-- survivors, loved ones, and allies-- like you.

There are thousands of men like Eric who've attended our weekends (we've held 101 of them since 2001) and found profound healing, connection, and community.

But reaching thousands of survivors isn't enough when there are millions more suffering. So we expanded our vision.

Outreach to Incarcerated Survivors

In 2025, MenHealing published our first book: Healing Outreach to Men Everywhere. H.O.M.E. provides crucial information for survivors who may be just starting their healing journey. It breaks down common myths and misconceptions about men who have been sexually harmed, reframes sexual trauma as an injury that can be healed from, provides trauma-informed coping skills, and tells the stories of real men who are decades into their healing journey.

The current edition of the book is available via e-book to over 1 million incarcerated men in correctional facilities nationwide. The vast majority of the information inside the book is applicable to non-incarcerated survivors, and is also available for purchase by the general public.

In just its first year since being published, we have received thousands of testimonials (like the ones below) from incarcerated survivors who have never had access to our resources before, and are now able to begin healing.

Online Peer-Led Support Groups

During the COVID pandemic, MenHealing began offering online support groups for men who had attended our Weekend of Recovery retreats, but needed ongoing support and connection to stay healthy and grounded. These groups are facilitated by trained peer leaders with the supervision of expert clinical social workers and trauma specialists.

The groups became so popular that we expanded the offering. They are now available not just for alumni, but for any male survivor of sexual abuse, as well as partners and loved ones of survivors who also need a network of connection and support.

Our biggest challenge as a survivor-led movement? Sustainable funding.

The programs that MenHealing offers-- the weekend retreats, the peer-led support groups, the outreach to incarcerated men-- these are unique resources that don't exist anywhere else. And they're made possible almost entirely by the generosity of individuals who believe what we believe: that every survivor, regardless of gender or identity, deserves access to the community and resources they need to heal.

MenHealing does not receive large government grants. A whopping 85% of our funding comes from private foundations and grassroots donors-- survivors, loved ones, and allies-- like you.

We still have a huge mountain to climb, and millions of survivors to reach who still need our support. But together, we can show them that they aren't alone, and help them heal.
