Creators' Statement

Welcome! Our names are Tim Nguyen and Carlos Tenreiro-Braschi, two born and raised New Yorkers who have been making short films since we were both 14-years-old. Last summer, we came together once again to film our biggest project yet: the pilot of a 10-episode absurdist comedy called No Delays.

No Delays is an ensemble character study with a cast that both supports and antagonizes each other through the hardships of transition. Although their goals differ, their shared sense of longing pushes them to defy their status quos. The pace and unpredictability of New York City serve as perfect catalysts for unique, challenging situations — our characters will be forced to face their inner demons. These stories are inspired by experiences we’ve lived through ourselves, especially recently, and we know we’re not alone. From humble beginnings as two high school freshmen telling stories for fun, we’re excited to finally share this episode, and with your support, share more.

What We've Done

Since October 2024, we've been developing the story, assembling our team, and completed an episode. We shot the pilot in a weekend as our proof of concept, paying for it out of our own pockets. With a large cast and crew behind us, the sense of collaboration was incredible, and it’s what allowed us to bring this project to life.

Over 30 people volunteered time, equipment, and energy to help us with the first episode. Our main goal now it to ensure their commitments mean something by making every subsequent episode better than the last.

What We'd Need to Continue

We're looking to shoot the rest of the series in three batches, three episodes each. With an approximate runtime of 12-15 minutes each, we're aiming to raise $9,000 for Episodes 2 - 4. Each episode would receive roughly a third of that investment, and expenses would be broken up as follows:

~ 35% - Equipment Rentals & Insurance (i.e. camera, lenses, lights, sound kit)
~ 50% - Production & Post-Production Costs (i.e. location fees, crew, food, transportation)
~ 15% - Production Design (i.e. set dressing, props, styling)

Once we've completed the project, we're hoping to release the series on YouTube and Vimeo, one episode every week.

Risks & Challenges

As independent filmmakers, we want to be transparent about the realities of micro-budget production. Because our work relies heavily on volunteer time, it can be challenging to keep schedules aligned when jobs, school, and other aspects of life come up. With that in mind, we pledge to:

Prioritize thorough pre-production, with clear and consistent communication across cast and crew
Develop detailed storyboards, hold collaborative table reads and writers’ rooms, and build a carefully structured shooting schedule to ensure each episode is both high quality and feasible
Maintain contingency plans for budget adjustments or scheduling conflicts, without compromising the core vision of the series
