Jamie Whitley's Story

💔 Discrimination, Surgery, and Standing Up for My Rights I never imagined I’d have to share this, but I’m speaking up. While working at Frito-Lay Lay PepsiCo I faced discrimination for having a disability. On a family vacation, I had an accident that led to cervical spine surgery. When I returned to work, despite having a doctor’s note excusing me the week of the Safety Banquet (which I usually help lead and am the speaker), I was bedridden and in the ER with thoracic spine pain. HR told me I wasn’t doing my job when I returned to work and forced me out. I was harassed, discriminated against, and ultimately lost my job — even though I should be on long-term medical leave. After months of appointments and trips to KU Med in Kansas City-I just had thoracic spine surgery. Now, instead of focusing on recovery, I’m unemployed and fighting for justice. I’m sharing this not for sympathy, but to say: 👉 Know your rights. Speak up. Hold companies accountable. 👉 No one should face discrimination while fighting for their health. 👉 I stand with anyone going through this. Let’s push for change. 💥 Please like, comment, and share this. Let’s make sure this message is heard loud and clear. #DisabilityRights #Discrimination #HRFail #WorkplaceHarassment #ToxicWorkplace #MedicalLeave #KnowYourRights #EmployeeRights #SpeakUp #Injustice #ChronicPainWarrior #DisabledAndProud #SupportEachOther #LinkedInCommunity #DisabilityAwareness #DisabilityAdvocacy #DisabilityInclusion #EndAbleism #InclusionMatters
