Join us for our Second Annual Belle's Kitchen Culinary Cook-Off and Graduation!

Belle's Kitchen, Funded by Ascension St. John's CHECS, was created to decrease the economic barriers of a criminal record by offering culinary training, life skills, and employment at a liveable wage.

Carabelle's Legacy was birthed out of the personal trauma and adversity of the founder Maria, after losing her daughter in a house fire, battling with addiction, and facing a 20-year sentence in prison. Carabelle's Legacy exists to promote hope after devastation. We offer 3 programs:

Health: our Cooking With Fire Program uniquely addresses food insecurity, health education, and fire safety and prevention.

Safety: Our 2nd Start Aftercare Services (2SAS) is homelessness prevention in the form of rapid rehousing, resources, and a family stipend for marginalized households displaced by house fires.

Security: We are breaking down the barriers of a criminal record by offering culinary skill training and employment at a liveable wage. (Carabelle's MicroCafe, Carabelle's Eats & Treats, Belle's Kitchen)

Over 24 weeks, 5 Apprentices have been fine-tuning their skills, receiving mentorship, and researching and developing the perfect dish to present to the community and sponsor judges!

Apprentices in our program receive chef uniform, knives, shoes, mentor and internship opportunities, a stipend and holistic support and case management services through our community partner, Just The Beginning.
