Not So Super Publishing's Mission:

Over time, what I viewed as a means of expression grew into a mission supported by many people from all walks of life.

To create inclusive books with integrity. Books that are thrilling, fun, and have stories that uplift and excite readers.
To make our books accessible by donating books to libraries, schools, and literacy programs
To uplift artists by paying fairly and promptly, promoting their work, and offering stories that complement their skills.

Ultimately, I want to create books that promote inclusion and give our readers a sense of hope and empathy for one another. I also want to nurture literacy while elevating art and supporting artists.

The Challenge:

Nothing about what I said can be done quickly. The bulk of the funding for my projects comes out of pocket. The remainder comes from book sales, some light crowdfunding, and loans. So, the pace of my growth depends on what I have in my pockets.

The tough part is that I can only create one book at a time because I always prioritize having funds on hand to pay artists in a timely fashion. This dilemma also makes it difficult to restock my inventory promptly, which costs me opportunities to be in various spaces.

I've tried finding different "revenue streams" to get things moving but many of them require me to do everything BUT the thing I enjoy most, which is making books.

So, How Can You Help?

Honestly, I'm stubborn when it comes to asking for help. I like to see how much I can do myself before I involve anyone else. But I've consistently heard from many of you who want to contribute towards Not So Super Publishing's growth. I created the Super Sustainers Programs to generate and consolidate support and share the progress.

I chose Givebutter (despite its funny-sounding name) for donations because:

It's at the top of its league when it comes to user satisfaction.
As software for fundraising, donor management, and nonprofit auctions it's a leader on G2, the largest independent software review site. You can compare Givebutter to other trusted sites here (or do your own research).
This platform will allow me to offer transparency about where the funds raised will go.

Hopefully, it's obvious that I spent a lot of time thinking about this.

I’ve never sought to be published by other publishers because I know my ideas are groundbreaking and untested, which is sadly a recipe for rejection in any mainstream market. Understandably, big publishers don’t want to take a risk on an unknown. But I LOVE working in that space and I want to keep finding ways to delight our readers.

As innovative as we were using Kickstarter in 2014 to fund individual projects, we will innovate by becoming a community-supported publisher. It's honestly the only way to keep up with demand and keep creating groundbreaking works.
