The Anthropocene is upon us, or rather we are most formally and frightfully upon the Earth. The Anthropocene is the geologic era that began almost 75 years ago. This era, following the Holocene, is characterized by human activity as the predominant influence on the Earth’s climate and ecosystems.

In the most formal of terms, we are the gardeners of the earth. Sadly, we have yet to do a very good job, and the soil is in disarray. This can be seen in blossoms everywhere we look; from climate change and toxic rain to political division, economic disparity, or social media actually taking the lives of our children.

For thousands of years, humanity has been a worldwide species, but for just under 200 years, we have become global. With this new station in our life journey, we are in a time of initiation and the outcomes of this ordeal will be consequentially defining.

While divisions of all kinds are on the rise, it is our coming together that is the necessary ingredient to meet this evolutionary challenge. The world today is a complex of issues, with a complex of wisdom, skills, care, and effort to respond. At Open Field Awakening we are weaving the emergence of global yet practical, compassionate yet strategic, and audacious yet rooted effort to cross this threshold as one humanity.
