20 years ago, I met Mr. Larry Jenkins. He founded an organization that helped Black and Indigenous students learn the skills necessary to get into college and win scholarships.
Mr. Jenkins invited my mother and me to participate in a college fair that his organization hosted. I followed his instructions about how to prepare and present my personal portfolio to the admissions representatives.
I received multiple full-ride scholarship offers on spot! Since then, I have won more than $700,000 to fund my undergraduate studies, law school and executive education programs at Harvard Business School, Columbia Business School and INSEAD. The techniques Mr. Jenkins shared with me aren’t rocket science. They are simply inaccessible.
In 2014, I founded Nyah Project to clear the pathway into college for underrepresented students. Not only did I want to pay forward the support I received from Mr. Jenkins, but I also sought to ensure that the skills and strategies that help unlock life changing higher educational opportunities remain accessible to all.
To date, our students boast a 100% college matriculation rate, 95% scholarship win rate, and over $26 MILLION in scholarships received.
What's more, since adding the Access Online technology platform to our suite of college admissions support resources, we have attracted over 50,000 course enrolments and increased the number of students we serve by 560% during the first two years.
I believe that we can and will help more than 100,000 students through their college admissions journey and unlock more than $1 billion in scholarships.
But, I need your help to make that vision a reality. Will you donate to Nyah Project today?
