Eleven years ago, Headwaters began with just $600 and a simple belief: that students learn science best when they ask their own questions, explore their ideas, and discover the world for themselves. We didn’t have much, but we had a vision—that curiosity could change lives.

Since 2014, thousands of students have stepped our mission, foster curiosity through science, discovering not just how to conduct research, but how to think critically, solve problems, and see the world through the eyes of a scientist. From elementary after school programs to middle school overnight adventures to remote high school research experiences, students of all ages have explored biology, chemistry, ecology, evolution, and more. They’ve used tools they never imagined, visited places they’d never seen, and uncovered answers to questions they didn’t even know they could ask.

These experiences spark more than knowledge—they spark confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. And none of it would be possible without you.

Your support lights the way. Every spark ignites curiosity—and with your gift, a student’s next discovery could be just around the corner.
