Oyster-Adams Black Pioneers

The students of Oyster-Adams Bilingual School are researching and assisting with the creation of an exhibit that will be on permanent display at Oyster-Adams’s lower campus. The exhibit honors the Black pioneers of Oyster-Adams, specifically Mr. Earl Williams, the first Black student who completed K-6th grade and Ms. Betty Brooks, the first Black teacher.

Oyster-Adams Bilingual School has partnered again with The Story of Our Schools (SOOS), a nonprofit that empowers students to research the history of their school and share their findings through the creation of a museum quality exhibit installed in their school lobby.
