Offer It Up? What does that even mean?

As we start out this Lent we look forward to the redemption of God through our Lord Jesus’ suffering, death and Resurrection, EASTER! But how are we getting ourselves ready? As Catholics we may have heard someone say ‘offer it up’. We learn very quickly as children to ‘give up’ something during Lent (just 40 days). as a way of bringing us farther from the earthly thing that has become an attachment. If it brings you suffering to be without it, then we give it to Jesus, on the cross to do with that offering, something greater.

"Do you wish your prayer to fly toward God? Make for it two wings: fasting and Almsgiving." St. Augustine

So we are reaching out to all of you supporters of CMT to not only give something up, fast as the Church asks, but then take that money you save and OFFER IT UP as Almsgiving to CMT!

We rely on donations to fund the work projects and lower the cost of these life-changing mission trips, allowing as many teens and young adults to go help others in Gods Kingdom. Your gift is more than a donation; it is a direct investment in the hands and hearts that bring Christ to the poor. During this Lent, please consider giving up something, then giving it to those who are suffering due to natural disasters, or poverty, offering help through CMT.

$90 / a fast food meal, once a week, can help feed a priest on Mission, while he provides spiritual nourishment to missionaries
$160 / 8 steaks (each Friday and Holy Week), can cover the work project costs (building materials) for one missionary
$240 / avoiding wine during Lent, 10 of you can build a roof when natural disaster have ravished an area.
$320 / daily coffee, 68 of you can provide one well in Peru to bring fresh clean water to those people in marginalized areas

By denying yourself during Lent, preparing yourself for Jesus’ redemptive suffering and aligning yourself to be like Jesus and OFFERING UP your suffering with Him, you too are helping his Kingdom, as we are called to do.

CMT is still growing! In 2025, we equipped 650 missionaries to rebuild homes and serve in 18 locations, including disaster recovery in Dade City, FL, Black Mountain, NC, and Altadena, CA.
