A mission this size needs a home base.

Before Bryant & Co. Foundation can operate programs on the land, before the Cool Bus rolls, before the first workshop runs, there is an enormous amount of work that happens off the farm. Grant writing, donor communications, board coordination, program development, legal compliance, accounting, scheduling, curriculum building, and the hundred other things that keep a nonprofit organization functioning at the standard this mission deserves. That work needs a place and people to make it happen.

This campaign funds the people and the operational infrastructure that keep the foundation running between now and when we are fully established on The Living Ground property. That means bringing on an Executive Director to lead daily operations, a Program Director to build and run our educational programming, administrative staff to keep the organization functioning day to day, a CPA to keep our finances clean and compliant, and a nonprofit attorney to protect the organization as it grows. It also means a real office in San Francisco, furniture, computers, printers, phones, internet, supplies, and the basic equipment that allows a small but mighty team to do the work that nobody sees but everybody benefits from.

We are not building a fancy headquarters. We are building the team and the home base that reflect the seriousness of what we are building, and give the people doing this work the support they need to do it well.

How your donation will be used:
Funds go toward salaries for our Executive Director, Program Director, and administrative staff, contracted CPA and legal services, monthly office space rental in San Francisco, essential furniture including desks, chairs, and storage, computers and basic technology equipment, internet and phone services, printing and office supplies, and any software subscriptions required for nonprofit operations including accounting, donor management, and communication tools.

How it will be tracked and reported:
All operational expenses are tracked monthly by category and reported quarterly to donors. Staff compensation is set and reviewed by the board using standard nonprofit salary benchmarking. Office space costs are documented with lease agreements and payment receipts. Equipment purchases are logged with serial numbers and depreciation schedules as part of our asset management system. Donors receive quarterly operational reports showing exactly how funds were deployed and what organizational capacity was built as a result.

Why this matters:
Nobody donates to a filing cabinet, or to a salary line. But without the people running this organization and the basic infrastructure behind them, nothing gets filed, nothing gets reported, nothing gets compliant, and nothing gets built the right way. This campaign funds the unglamorous backbone of everything else on this list.
