Old Souls turns 15 years old on April 10, 2025! To celebrate, our goal is to raise $15,000 during the month of April to help support our mission.

Old Souls Animal Rescue and Retirement Home is a completely volunteer-run 501c3 nonprofit animal rescue founded in 2010 to ensure that homeless geriatric, special needs, and hospice animals receive quality care and the dignified end of life they deserve. The rescue provides 24 hour palliative care in a home environment, as well as physical therapy, holistic and traditional treatments, and daily enrichment that ensures that the last chapter of life for the animals we rescue is the best chapter.

Old Souls wants to thank our supporters for all of your generosity and kindness over these past 15 years, not just in dollars, but in your emotional support as well. Every time you reach out to us on social media, ask about your favorite Old Souls residents, and laugh with us at their shenanigans, we appreciate you even more. You know it can be a challenging journey we face helping the most fragile animals in our community. You uplift us every day, and we could not have come this far without you.

Old Souls is a small rescue with a huge heart. In our 15 years since we became a 501c3, we have rescued hundreds of animals that never would have made it out of a shelter alive. We have also given immense comfort to those in our community who had to give up their aging pets because of their own failing health. We will never forget Debra who was dying of terminal cancer, and had no choice but to give up her dog Mimi who meant more in the world to her than anything. I was the person the hospital called when Debra was nearing the end of her beautiful life. She had no family so I was the one by her side, holding her hand while she took her last breath, assuring her that Mimi would be well cared for until they met again in heaven.

The funds raised from this 15 year celebration will be used in three ways.

To provide critical care to animals who currently call Old Souls home, like 15 year old Gracie whose diabetes is not yet well controlled;
To take in new animals who are on our waitlist, some of whom are in desperate need of medical care, but we are not able to take them in without sufficient funding to provide the type of care they need; and
To start work on a 3.5 acre Old Souls Memorial Garden on the Old Souls property. This special garden will honor every animal that has come through our doors. Each animal has touched us deeply and taken a piece of our hearts with them when they left for the Bridge. We want to remember them and keep them close by placing their powdered remains in the beautiful Old Souls Memorial Garden in the breathtaking Sonoran Desert to forever rest peacefully.
