After taking in 67 neglected emaciated farm animals from Pima Animal Care Center in Tucson, Old Souls decided to move the entire rescue to a larger property nearby to ensure proper care for these special animals and to make room for more dogs and cats who need us.

We were surprised to learn that two of the sick goats that we took in were pregnant and soon had happy healthy babies! But then tragedy struck when the very first baby, Maharani (pictured here), was taken by a bobcat. You can imagine our devastation. The desert is amazing and beautiful but also full of deadly threats to the Old Souls animals. The baby's mama Inya'a cried for her baby every day for weeks, and our hearts were breaking for her.

To keep the Old Souls animals safe and secure at our new location, we have established the Old Souls Safe and Secure Fund. Donations to this fund will allow us to install predator proof no-climb in-ground perimeter fencing surrounding 1.5 acres of land where all of the outdoor animal enclosures are located to ensure that even if an animal gets out of their enclosure that they cannot escape the property. This fence will also keep our community dog Charlie and our livestock guardian dogs safely on our property.

In addition, we will install secondary predator proof no-climb in-ground fencing around the goat, pig, tortoise, and chicken/guinea/turkey areas as extra protection since they are not able to defend themselves from wild desert critters that may find a way in despite our efforts (wildlife are quite savvy!).
