Help Fuel Weekend Meals for Metro Atlanta Kids. For most people, reaching the summit of Mt. Toubkal, North Africa's highest mountain at 4,167 meters, would be a challenge enough. But for Vander Bannister and The Kind Venture Company, the summit is only part of the mission.

Vander is taking on an incredible trek with a bigger goal: raising $2,500 for Backpack Buddies of Metro Atlanta.

Every dollar raised helps provide weekend meals to children facing food insecurity across Metro Atlanta. Our $2,500 goal is enough to provide weekend meal backpacks for 10 children for an entire school year. Backpack Buddies of Metro Atlanta is already making an incredible difference in our community, providing weekend meals to thousands of children throughout the region. Together, we can help ensure that more kids return to school on Monday nourished, focused, and ready to learn.

About Backpack Buddies of Metro Atlanta

In 2017, a group of volunteers gathered each week at an Atlanta Synagogue to pack food for the hungry. They partnered with a local elementary school that identified 10 students dependent on the school's free breakfast and lunch program. Each Friday, the group delivered backpacks filled with non-perishable food to the school counselor, who discreetly sent those children home with enough food to last them through the weekend. Word spread, and more volunteers got involved. Backpack Buddies of Metro Atlanta is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization fighting weekend childhood hunger by providing nutritious food bags to approximately 3,000 children every week in 53 Metro Atlanta Title I schools. Through partnerships with schools, volunteers, businesses, faith communities, and civic organizations, Backpack Buddies is working toward a future where no child goes hungry on weekends. To date, BPBMA has served 279,957 children and delivered 1,679,742 meals!
