In this solo performance version, Ophelia: A Prism shifts focus from Shakespeare’s Hamlet to the ingénue Ophelia- or rather, three aspects of herself. These contrasting Sister Selves (Green, Brass, and Orange) take control of the original narrative to tell their own story of Black Femme joy, oppression, and resilience.

BAD NEWS: We're Broke.

Our little team is hungry to get this piece on its feet in NYC, but right now we're producing this show with zero budget and the smallest staff we've had in years. We've previously been able to operate on commissions, donations, and grants--but arts funding has been slashed. Grants for both ourselves and would-be commissioners have dried up. And because our mission falls outside of this administration's priorities, our well might run dry for some time. BRTW is a dedicated crew and we're in it for the love of the game (and ticket split), but we need your help.

We know our supporters are passionate about the arts and advocacy, and we're asking you to help us bring Ophelia to life.

Winners (chosen at random) get the chance to select either 1 or 2 tickets, and we will continue selecting tickets until gone.

Our Team is:

H Harvey (Ophelia Director / BRTW co-Artistic Producer) is a writer, director, cultural strategist, and nonprofit administrator. Their recent credits include performances and speaking engagements at State Voices, the Schomburg, Oberlin College, The Foundry (Berkshires), Dramatic Question Theatre, the Flea, and their 2025 audio drama on Black Revolutionary Media available on all the podcatchers.

Mieko Gavia (Ophelia Writer/Actor / BRTW and Ophelia co-Artistic Producer) Mieko Gavia is a writer, actor, audiobook narrator, and all-around oddball from Indianapolis, Indiana. Her eclectic background and 14+ years of professional indie arts experience have created a connoisseur of the authentic, offbeat, and diverse. Her playwrighting includes Dog, Afterswarm, Fruit, Revolution, and Ophelia: A Prism. Their writing has been featured in Bustle, Buzzfeed, Oxygen, Efniks, New York Theatre Review, Netfix’s Youtube Channel, and concept writing for PostCurious's Adrift. Her Acting credits include work with their company @thebrtw, Court of the Dead: A Nico Angelo Novel, and leading roles in Canary Trap, Lou, La Pucelle, and Quarter Century: New York.

Tim Craig (Ophelia and BRTW co-Artistic Producer / Writers Block facilitator) is a visual artist, writer, actor, and producer. His recent visual arts credits include his annual free-to-the-public Brooklyn exhibition in addition to works at My Gallery and “watch-and-play” for The Center at West Park. Acting and producing credits include performances at New Ohio, JACK, The Cell, The Flea, and Theater Lab.

Jody Christopherson (Ophelia Script Supervisor / Tech Consultant) is a New York based Generative Artist, who is originally from Nebraska. Her mediums include: theater performance, playwrighting, conceptual design, direction, music/foley, photography, filmmaking, and curation. Her productions have been nominated for a Drama League Award, 6 Innovative Theater Awards, and have been performed in 28 cities in 6 countries. Productions include: St Kilda, Tussaud/Antoinette, Greencard Wedding, AMP and Necessary Exposure: The Female Playwright Project. She serves as the Editor in Chief and founder of the New York Theatre Review, an indie media site for and by artists, since 2011.
