Our Naples community is in a hunger crisis. The economic impact of Covid-19 has caused severe hardship for an estimated 250,000 of our neighbors in SW Florida as large numbers of workers had their work and pay cut short for many months, and families are struggling to keep food on the table.

To aid in this hunger crisis, Harry Chapin Food Bank has had to double its food distributions to St. Matthew’s, Meals of Hope and others. To support this, they are now having to purchase over $1Million of food each month (a huge increase over the normal $37,500/month before the pandemic!)

Help Harry Chapin Food Bank raise money for our neighbors in need and share your commitment to fighting hunger.

Harry Chapin Food Bank, a member of Feeding America, is the largest hunger-relief organization in Southwest Florida. The food bank rescues food that would otherwise go to waste and distributes it to families and others in need through a series of programs that feed 28,000 people a week. They include: Care and Share Senior Feeding Program, Harry’s Helpings, Fulfill Mobile Pantries, In-School Pantries and our Partner Agency Program, which is a network of more than 150 partner agencies in our five-county footprint.

Our membership with Feeding America enables us to amplify our food and distribution efforts and bring in food from various retail and grocery stores, national food producers and distributors and growers locally, nationally and even internationally.

Your food bank distributed a total of 4.2 million pounds of food into our five-county footprint in October, which is nearly a half million-pound increase from the month of September. That is simply incredible.

Our spending on food has increased from about $37,500 per month to $1,000,000 per month. Our mobile pantries have increased from roughly 30 a month to nearly 50 a month in an effort to help feed the quarter of a million people who are hungry each month in Southwest Florida.
