About the National Tour

Minority Veterans of America (MVA) and The Chamberlain Network (TCN) are launching Our Stories, Our Truth: A National Tour Honoring the Legacy of Us—a storytelling tour featuring art by Transpainter that invites the public into deeper connection with underrepresented veterans through their lived experiences. This multi-city journey across the United States will unfold over six months. At each stop, we will create space for minority veterans to share their truths—and for communities to listen, learn, and grow. We will also capture those stories on video so we can share them with people around the country.

Amid increasing division and harmful narratives about identity, patriotism, and who belongs, this tour offers something different: a chance to understand one another—not through debates or headlines, but through the power of human story. At each event, minority veterans—those too often erased from dominant narratives—will share their stories of service, identity, and community.

Events, hosted in collaboration with trusted grassroots organizations, are open to the public. Each stop will center a different veteran identity group. Programs will feature a mix of local voices and national speakers.

Why Stories?

Story is what connects us.

In sharing glimpses of our own experiences, people who have never met us, who seemingly have nothing in common with us, can find familiarity and shared connection in the way only storytelling can.

Our Stories, Our Truth: A National Tour Honoring the Legacy of Us celebrates stories of minority veterans whose lived experiences provide unique perspectives left out of or erased from the narrative of our nation’s history. This tour amplifies marginalized voices and gives us an opportunity to capture the stories of veterans too often overlooked. In sharing the stories at events, on social media, and every other way we can on this tour, we hope to help build community and connection that lasts.

This tour is about being in community, amplifying underrepresented voices as people in power try to erase their histories and narratives that are integral to the story of who we are as a nation, and exploring the possibilities of what we can build together.

We need your help to make this tour everything it can be.

Your donation will help with tech to record the stories of marginalized veterans so we can share their lived experience, provide travel assistance for storytellers to attend events, help us hire veteran photographers to capture beautiful images for a gallery exhibit at the National Veterans Art Museum this fall, and essentially make this tour go.
