The Story of Creekside Montessori School

Fifteen years ago, Creekside Montessori was founded with a mission: to provide accessible, authentic Montessori education for children from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds. Since then, we have grown in beautiful and meaningful ways.

We have evolved from an outreach mission of Creekside (formerly Mayflower) Church to an independent tenant; from a small, part-time program to a thriving school of 101 children; and from Mayflower Early Childhood Center to Creekside Montessori School, a name that better reflects who we are and who we are becoming.

Through this growth, we have remained grounded in our mission, the foundation upon which Creekside has been built, and maintained the specialness of our community. With the child always at the center of our work, Creekside offers a sense of belonging and place for families, where children flourish and are supported to be their best selves; where they are gently guided to reach their highest potential. Children learn how to peacefully care for themselves, their community, and their environment. The ultimate purpose of Montessori education is to support children to become peaceful citizens of the world, our hope for humanity.

Today I'm writing to share our vision for the next chapter of Creekside Montessori. We need your help to make this vision a reality. I ask you to please take this opportunity to help expand our school and mission; make high quality Montessori accessible to even more children!

Why Montessori Elementary Matters Now

For years, families have asked: "Can our children continue at Creekside after kindergarten?" Soon, the answer will be yes. In Fall 2026, we will launch our first Lower Elementary classroom for grades 1–3.

This moment in our world makes Montessori elementary education more vital than ever. Our children are growing up in times of division, rapid change, and uncertainty. Montessori elementary offers something rare and essential: an environment where children develop not just academic skills, but deep critical thinking, empathy, collaborative problem-solving, and a sense of their place in the interconnected world.

Elementary-aged children are in what Dr. Montessori called the "social newborn" stage; they are naturally curious about justice, fairness, and how societies work. A Montessori elementary classroom harnesses this developmental moment, helping children become confident, compassionate thinkers who can navigate complexity with grace.

Importantly, an elementary program doesn't only benefit the ten children who will attend in that first year. It enriches our entire school community. Older students become role models and mentors. Younger children see a path forward and are inspired by what is possible. Families stay connected to Creekside, strengthening the bonds that make us more than just a school. Together, we will extend Montessori education from 16 months to 12 years old, over several years of growth, and give all of our children the gift of an even more vibrant and joyful learning community.

Elementary Program Launch (One-Time Need): $45,000
To open our elementary classroom in Fall 2026, our goal is to raise $45,000 for furniture, classroom rental, an AMI-trained guide, and Montessori materials. This is a one-time capital investment that will serve children for decades to come. Join this movement by giving and be a part of something that will make an extraordinary impact on our community!
