Pregnancy and Infant Loss (PAIL) Subcommittee
The PAIL Subcommittee, launched in 2023 with support from the Chicago Department of Public Health, brings together community members, providers, and organizations to improve care and resources for families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss. Guided by community input, the Subcommittee has created a resource directory, trained FCC nurses in compassionate bereavement care, and revised outreach materials to be inclusive of grieving families. Members also share education on grief, sibling support, and Illinois’ Liam’s Law while presenting at national conferences to advance awareness and best practices. An often neglected subset of the MCH spectrum, the Subcommittee works to ensure bereaved families receive the compassion, respect, and resources they deserve.
