The US-Israel war on Iran threatens everyone in its path. Citing wartime security needs, the Israeli government has again closed all the borders of Gaza, including for humanitarian aid. Food prices are skyrocketing because of the closing of the Rafah border. This is exacerbating the food scarcity and starvation crisis in Gaza.

Tzedakah is a practice of solidarity that leads us to collective safety and freedom for all people, binds ourselves to others, and brings us closer to a world redeemed.

As Passover nears we are reminded of the Aramaic words that open the maggid, storytelling, section of the Passover seder: Kol dichfin yeitei v'yeichol “may all who are hungry come and eat.” These words are meant to be a call to share both sustenance and freedom.
