Shmira Public Safety was established as response to the rise in crime, specifically to those that effected the businesses and families of the heavily Jewish populated areas that we primarily serve. We help address the increase in crime, and hate incidents, that affect the quality of life.

The word "Shmira" comes from the biblical Hebrew word that means "Safeguarding." As active members of community, we believe that it is our duty to safeguard our entire community, for all of our residents and guests. While Shmira Public Safety is primarily funded and staffed out of the Jewish community, we are here to serve our entire community, irrespective of faith or affiliation.

We are now asking the community support this vital service. We have a Shabbat and Yom Tov Security Patrol every week. This fund will enable us to continue the licensed patrol vehicles at this vital time

We are grateful to LAPD for their partnership and reduction in crime stats in the past few months. We need to be able to maintain security at specific times when LAPD is busy in other neighborhoods during a tactical alert.

Shmira Public Safety is staffed by trained community volunteers. Membership is open to all persons (21+), irrespective of gender, race, or religion. All applicants must pass a detailed background check prior to being accepted. visit www.lashmira.or for more information
