From 4 to 40: A Cat Crisis in Our Community

From four cats to forty. It happens more often than you might think. Take this story for example. A kindhearted woman sees four abandoned cats struggling outside her home—cold, hungry, and alone. She gives them food, a safe place to sleep, and love. She's about to find out that cats are prolific breeders—a single unspayed female can have up to three litters a year, and her kittens will start having kittens in just a few months. Before she knew it, her four stray cats became a colony of forty.

Now, despite her best efforts, the situation is unmanageable. The cats are interbreeding, leading to genetic health issues. Some are sick, others are injured. Veterinary care is expensive, she simply can’t afford to fix them all. And she’s not alone—our rescue is overwhelmed with calls just like this, every single day. This happens so often, and if all of the cats aren't fixed in a colony, the problem continues to spiral out of control.

As a small, volunteer-run organization, we are doing everything we can to help. But with the rising costs of veterinary care, and only a handful of people with limited resources, we are fighting an uphill battle against cat overpopulation.
