Join the ISE and the Palestinian Social Fund for a discussion on the history of the cooperative movement and agroecology in Palestine.

This panel will explore the role of resistance economies, popular committees, and food sovereignty within decolonial struggle from Palestine to Turtle Island. How did agricultural cooperatives and popular committees build power during the First Intifada? What does it mean to build a resistance economy under occupation? Hear from organizers engaged in building community strength on Turtle Island, Britain and in Palestine.

Rami Massad leads the community program at the Popular Art Centre, supporting women and youth formations in the West Bank, such as the cooperative farms.

Martin Faherty from Infinity Foods Wholesale, one of the UKs largest workers cooperatives. Martin is also a long time Palestine Solidarity activist.

Mazin Qumsiyeh is a Palestinian scientist, author, and professor known for his extensive work in biodiversity and environmental sustainability. He is the founder and director of the Palestine Museum of Natural History and the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability at Bethlehem University. He has been instrumental in promoting environmental education and conservation in Palestine. He's written several books, including Popular resistance in Palestine : a history of hope and empowerment, a comprehensive study of the always creative, often peaceful, civil resistance in Palestine.

Kali Akuno a co-founder and Executive Director of Cooperation Jackson, which is an emerging network of worker cooperatives and supporting institutions. Cooperation Jackson is fighting to create economic democracy by creating a vibrant solidarity economy in Jackson, MS that will help transform Mississippi and the South.
