While Early Intervention focuses on developmental milestones, we believe that for a child to truly bloom, their family must be supported first. A child cannot focus on finding their voice or taking their first steps if their world is in survival mode.

We know that our community is full of wonderful resources, but we also know that crises don't always conveniently happen during business hours. We see urgent needs every week where longer-term resources simply aren't available on a Friday night or during a temporary system delay.

This is where the PDC Essentials Fund steps in. This is a snapshot of what we've done in the past year:

When SNAP benefits were unexpectedly suspended this past November, we provided grocery gift cards so families could keep their kitchens stocked without delay. For a child with special needs, a food pantry isn’t always a viable option - many of our little ones require specific brands or types of food for sensory or medical reasons that standard pantries simply cannot provide. These cards allowed parents to get exactly what their child needed to stay fed and healthy.
We purchased a stroller for a mom whose car stopped working, so she could continue walking her children to appointments and childcare.
We provided gas cards for families facing a lean week, ensuring they could still get to work and keep their household stable.
When one of our moms unexpectedly lost her housing on a Friday afternoon, we covered her weekend lodging. This provided a safe, quiet space for her child with special needs while we waited for Monday morning to connect her with our partners who handle long-term housing.

A child cannot reach their full potential when their basic needs for safety and food are in question. By meeting these needs immediately, we quiet the stress in the home so that parents can be fully present, and our tiniest community members can get back to the vital work of growing, learning, and thriving.
