Axel left us five and a half years ago and there isn't a day I don't think about him. Since then, I've done an annual fundraiser each autumn. What's new this time is the organization we are supporting.

The Sun Will Rise, founded by my friend Robyn Houston-Bean, has been giving comfort and connection to people bereaved by substance use related causes since 2016, and in spite of COVID-19 restrictions, they were ready for me when everything went dark in early 2021.

I continue to donate to Shatterproof.org every month, but out of gratitude and after careful reflection, I decided to make a change. I found some of my best friends through The Sun Will Rise.

My goal is to set a new record by bringing in 100 donors, at any amount. Three years ago we got 85, so we haven't too far to go.

On September 13th, Janel and I will again cycle 100 kilometers on the Root River Trail in SE Minnesota.
