Our Director’s mother owned her own massage studio called Kathy's Angelic Touch.  Always trying to help others, Kathy, along with her daughters, had a heart and dedication for rescuing animals.

In that spirit, our Director rescued Percy "Perseus Jackson" who was born on May 23, 2010 and passed away on March 4, 2021. During his lifetime he was diagnosed with Strabismus in his eyes, a heart murmur, and Thyroid disease. His loss was heavy on our Director’s tender heart.

She and her family once lived in Prosperity, SC, which was known as "Frog Level" when it was originally founded in 1827 due to its low-lying lands and the large number of frogs living in the ponds. Her father was a local minister at Macedonia Lutheran Church on Lake Murray for over 40 years. One of her mother's famous sayings was "FROG - Fully Rely On God." The summer after her mother passed away in 2014 from cancer, this little frog jumped on her shoulder while her family was camping at Dreher Island State Park. He is now fondly remembered as Meowbit.

Looking for a way to honor her mom and Percy's memory, and relying on her experience in cat and kitten rescue which she fostered by donating her time to other local rescues, our Director started Percy's Angelic Cat Rescue in April of 2023.

She is also a 4th grade teacher, an employee of Dreher Island State Park, is a pet sitter with Percy’s Pet Services, LLC, and rents out her camper through Percy’s Frog Level Adventures, which helps with the expenses of running the rescue.

Percy's Angelic Cat Rescue is run by dedicated volunteers and we depend solely on the donations from the local community members and our fundraising efforts.
