Help Us Honor the Life of Dr. Philip Eugene Pate

Some people leave behind memories. Others leave behind a stronger community.

Dr. Philip Eugene Pate was one of those people.

For more than four decades, Philip dedicated his life to Winchester—not only through his work as a clinical and forensic psychologist, but through his unwavering commitment to serving others. He served on City Council, chaired numerous community organizations, advocated tirelessly for children and families, and had an incredible gift for bringing people together. Whether it was over conversation on his front porch, volunteering for a local cause, or simply sharing a story, Philip made everyone around him feel welcome.

He believed deeply in community, kindness, and connection. Those who knew him know that some of his greatest joys were found in the simple moments: talking with friends, reading a good book, exploring downtown, and spending time with the people he loved.

To honor his extraordinary life and lasting impact on Winchester, Friends of Old Town is raising funds to install a memorial bench in downtown—a place where neighbors can gather, visitors can rest, conversations can begin, and Philip's legacy of community can continue for generations to come.

Every contribution, no matter the size, will help create a lasting tribute to a man who gave so much to this community.
