Team FHD is working to solve a 1985 Pima County, Arizona case that’s been cold since the year the Medical Examiner’s anthropologist began his tenure. Successful extraction of human DNA was just reported by our lab partner and the samples are now in sequencing.

NamUs labels her "UP10102." We call her Picture Rocks Jane Doe inspired by the many indigenous petroglyph sites she was surrounded by west of Tucson.

Unfortunately, very little is known about this young woman found near Avra Road and Rudasill Road in Tucson on November 30, 1985. She was estimated to be an under 40-year-old white female, approximately 5'3" tall with black hair and red/pink nail polish.

Genealogy For Justice and FHD Forensics greatly admire Pima County’s impressive work in the face of an almost insurmountable problem. Picture Rocks Jane Doe is just one of over 1000 unidentified remains cases in this office. Yet, they remain a leader in terms of activism, successsful identifications, and treating both loved ones and remains with dignity and compassion.

"Given that 1985 was my first full year assisting the PCOME, I can hardly wait until you tell me the identity of Picture Rocks Jane Doe," exclaimed Dr. Bruce Anderson, Pima County's forensic anthropologist.

We can't wait either. Sending news to loved ones who have waited decades for answers is our sacred duty.

The Dean and Tina Linn Clouse Memorial Fund seed money for this case was provided by our very first patron, Tony, in honor of Holly Marie and her parents. Tony was the very first person to reach out through the media to offer support when he heard of our search for Holly Marie in January of 2022. It was that first donation of his that led to G4J's predecessor the Hope For Holly DNA Project which eventually became her parents' memorial fund.

Still a loyal supporter, Tony anxiously awaits the opportunity to make a toast in Picture Rocks Jane Doe's memory when we're all finally able to say her name.
