Think you have what it takes?

Participants will hold an SCBA at arm's length for as long as possible. The last competitor holding their SCBA in each heat advances to the championship round.

Rules

Entry fee is $5 per attempt.
Competitors must hold the designated SCBA provided by event staff.
The SCBA must be held with the arm fully extended in front of the body.
The SCBA may not rest against the body, legs, clothing, or any other object.
The non-holding hand may not touch or support the SCBA or holding arm.
Competitors must remain standing and within the designated competition area.
Dropping the SCBA ends the attempt.
Bending the arm significantly or lowering the SCBA below the designated position may result in elimination.
Event judges may issue one warning for minor form violations before disqualification.
Event staff decisions are final.

Competition Format

Multiple qualifying heats may be held depending on participation.
The winner of each heat receives one free entry into the Cairns N5A Leather Helmet Raffle.
Heat winners advance to the Championship Round.
The overall SCBA Hold Champion receives two additional entries into the Cairns N5A Leather Helmet Raffle and earns bragging rights as the 2026 Firefighter Skill Mastery SCBA Hold Champion.
