13th Annual National Pacific Islander Violence Prevention Conference

THE STORY BEHIND THE EVENT.

The mission of the National Pacific Island Violence Prevention Conference or PIVPC is to center Pacific Islander voices, perspectives and expertise on the violence that exists within our community, address the challenges we face as a collective, and to empower participants to critically examine their approaches to prevention. It will also serve as a catalyst for the development of new relationships between Pacific Islanders and service providers making way to cultivate a prosperous future filled with collaboration.

The theme for this year’s conference is, “Building Foundations, Pathways, & Solutions For Healing”, which will showcase a number of meaningful evidence and culture based approaches to recognizing and building up the resilience within ourselves, our families, our community and our people and how to use that potent energy to take back the narrative.

Since our peoples migration to America, we have each brought with us a unique and necessary piece to the collective, helping to build a foundation for support and a pathway to thrive. Our own mentors and trailblazers are becoming ancestors so it is vital that we continue their work through innovation and culturally sustainable approaches to combat the ongoing violence in our community.

We continue to learn and evolve by exploring the intersections of violence and all sectors to bring about real solutions that deepen our connection and build upon a legacy of healing and peace with resilience and power.
