Story
Giving Tuesday has become a global movement. Giving Tuesday started in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good.
Community Health Initiative of Orange County (CHIOC) envisions an Orange County where all residents can access quality healthcare, benefit from a healthcare system that responds to their unique needs, and live healthy and prosperous lives. To accomplish this, our mission is to connect all children, families, and other adults to affordable and high-quality healthcare and social services.
CHIOC is working on expanding its reach in the community by using Giving Tuesday donations for those that need help with healthcare-related costs. Access to healthcare has barriers for many people. In Orange County, 8.4% of the population is uninsured. This pandemic has put a spotlight on the healthcare disparities that exist across our County. Low-income communities and communities of color are especially vulnerable to high rates of uninsured and under-insured individuals and this has led to devasting effects caused by Covid-19.
Understanding that some residents face more challenges securing such services, CHIOC prioritizes underserved communities, including low-income households, racial/ethnic minorities, and immigrants. Today, our direct services reach over 20,000 individuals each year. We need your help. Often, CHIOC cannot help some individuals that come to us due to income guidelines and other restrictions. We are working to bridge this gap in access to care so everyone we meet can live a happy, healthy life. When you donate to the CHIOC Health Access Fund, you make a direct impact on the lives of your neighbors here in Orange County. Please consider making a donation today.
